يضم هذا الكتاب ديوان عروة بن أذينة" وهو عُروة بن أذينة، وأذينة لقبه، واسمه يحيى بن مالك الليثي الكناني بن الحارث ابن عمرو بن عبد الله بن زُحل بن يعمر، وهو الشداخ بن عوف بن كعب بن عامر بن ليث بن بكر بن عبد مناة بن كنانة بن خزيمة بن مدركة بن إلياس بن مضر بن نزار، ويكنى عُروة بن أذينة، أبا عامر، وهو شاعر غزل مقدم، من شعراء أهل المدينة عاش فيها في العصر الأموي، وهو معدود في الفقهاء والمحدثين ولكن الشعر أغلب عليه. وكان أسلوبه في الغزل رقيقاً وعذباً، وكان كثير القناعة، وله في ذلك أشعار سائرة، وفي هذا الكتاب غيض من فيض في الحديث عن عروة بن أذينة وشاعريته، خصوصاً لجهة سعة خياله وإتقانه في الوصف حيث له أشعار رائعة.
