ولد حسان بن ثابت سنة 60 قبل الهجرة على الأرجح، صحابي وكان ينشد الشعر قبل الإسلام، وكان ممن يفدون على ملوك الغساسنة في الشام، وبعد إسلامه اعتبر شاعر النبي محمد بن عبد الله. اشتهرت مدائحه في الغسانيين قبل الإسلام. إن شعر حسان في تراث أمتنا، تاريخ من تاريخها، وكنز من كنوزها..! لولا أن ما كان بين أيدى الناس من ديوانه، لا يعدو أن يكون أكثره محرفاً مصفحاً، قد مسخ أقبح المسخ، فلا تكاد نفسك تركن في بين صحيح، يمكن نسبته إلى شاعره.
